This past Monday, October 25, NYC’s Ziegfeld Theater hosted Tyler Perry’s world premiere of the film For Colored Girls. The beautiful cast ensemble, which includes Janet Jackson and Thandie Newton, graced the red carpet for the big screening. Others in attendance included Macy Gray, Kerry Washington, Anika Noni Rose, Tyler Perry, Ciara, and Estelle. The movie is based on the 1975 play, For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide, which tells the stories of love, abandonment, domestic abuse and other issues face by women of color.

Thandie Newton brought simplicity back to the red carpet with this chic charcoal Calvin Klein number. She accessorized with simple gold earrings, a matching gold bracelet, and double-strapped stiletto sandals. Newton could have amped up her look by opting for the Susie Grey Silk sandals from the Vera Wang Lavender collection.

Ciara looks beyond chic in this black sculptural poufy dress paired with leopard Christian Louboutin leopard booties. Just like the film and the singer herself, the look is bold and powerful. However, we’d like to see Ciara soften this look up by pairing Pelle Moda’s Enjoy peep toe platform pumps with her black sleeveless dress by Carven. Can we say pure perfection?

Estelle rocked the red carpet in a mix of haute couture, complete with Preen leather pants, an Alexander McQueen jacket, and Gusieppe Zanotti heels. The beautiful material and print complements the singer’s sense of style to a T. Estelle’s song “All Day Long” is featured on the For Colored Girls soundtrack and is sure to be a smash hit. Another hit would be her outfit paired with the sky-high platform Limbo pumps in pewter from Pelle Moda that boasts matching stone detailing.
