Everyone’s a Little Country at the Country Music Awards

On Sunday night, some of the biggest stars in country music hit the stage. The 2010 Academy of Country Music Awards took place at the MGM in Las Vegas and opened with a performance by Carrie Underwood, Miranda Lambert, Brad Paisley and OG country boy, Charlie Daniels. While Miranda wore all black (jeans, shirt and jacket), Carrie Underwood stole the show in her uber short lavender dress with a high-heeled gladiator evening shoe (we have no idea who even makes this shoe)–this was definitely a fashion violation to be wearing such a showy shoe with an over-the-top dress. And, it was another case of “what was she thinking”?

If you’re going to wear a dress like this you need to have a shoe that is much more streamlined or elegantly simple. Carrie, please take notes for next time:

Pelle Moda’s Colette in black satin would have been a stellar choice with black jet detailing and interlocking suede loops.

She even could have rocked it in platinum.

And for a little more glitz, but not of the overpowering kind, Carrie could have donned Pelle Moda’s Lexy platform sandals in pewter leather. This shoe is hot with the stone detailing and 4½-inch heel.

Even though Carrie Underwood won’t win for her outfit, she won Entertainer of the Year for the 2nd year in a row. Other big winners were:

Miranda Lambert took home Video of the Year and Album of the Year.

Song of the Year and Single of the Year went to Lady Antebellum.

Brad Paisley won Male Performer of the Year.

Taylor Swift, of course, won Album of the Year.
