Denim is a wardrobe staple that will likely never go out of style. Since it was invented in the 1800’s it’s gone through quite a few changes and it’s now available in dozens of colors, fits and styles. Denim is so versatile, one might say it’s creation drastically impacted the world of fashion. It could even be said that denim is the most significant fabric of our time. Denim is incorporated into nearly all of our casual looks. Check out how celebs are wearing denim below.

Katie Holmes and Kate Spade Darya

Here, actress Katie Holmes wears some stylish flared denim. Also known as “bell bottoms” this jean trend was popular in the sixties and seventies but came back again in the later part of the nineties. Flared jeans are perfect for wearing over boots like Katie’s black suede pair, similar to the Kate Spade Darya. These fantastic Kate Spade wedge boots combine comfort and style for an effortlessly chic look. Bigger flares were once a big trend but smaller flares and boot cut styles are on trend right now.

Tara Reid and Ash Trash-Bis

What’s cooler than colored denim? All the rage in the nineties, the look has recently come back with a vengeance. Jeans are available in every imaginable color from pastel purples to neon pinks. Tara wears her red denim with a fur jacket and biker boots, similar to the Ash Trash-Bis. These funky Ash boots are tough and trendy. You can wear your colored denim with any shoe or boot you like, just remember to wear a fairly basic top to avoid making the look too bold. Unless of course, you want to color block, which is all the rage right now. Some tips – contrasting colors look great together as do multiple colors in the same family – so red, pink and purple, for example.

Olivia Palermo and Stuart Weitzman Giveable

Olivia Palermo rocks super skinny jeans, slightly cropped at the ankle a la Audrey Hepburn. The “cigarette pants” of the fifties and sixties are now back in style and a new trend has also emerged – jeggings. Jeggings are often worn under longer tops, but skinny jeans can be worn with nearly anything. Olivia pairs hers with a loose sweater and flats, similar to the Stuart Weitzman Giveable. These Stuart Weitzman slip-ons are a simple, sweet accessory for skinny denim. Skinny jeans look darling with flats and also work well tucked under boots.
