Memorial Day is a national holiday created to honor fallen soldiers who died defending this country. It was originally called Declaration Day and was started in remembrance of Civil War soldiers who died in battle. It eventually became a day to remember all fallen soldiers. Though it’s often a day of fun, filled with barbeques and beaches, it has to do with so much more. In a fashionable salute to the fallen soldiers, here are some stylish stars who have played soldiers of some sort.
Demi Moore and Michael Kors York
Actress Demi Moore is seen here at the premiere of “Five” in New York City. “Five” is a groundbreaking film about those who are fighting or have survived breast cancer. The movie had an all start cast and amazing directors, including Demi. She looks great in a fun mosaic print dress and patent peep toe pumps similar to the Michael Kors York. We just love the great shine on these polished Michael Kors pumps. Demi played the infamous role of female soldier G.I. Jane in the popular flick of the same name. It was one of her breakout roles and a memorable flick about adversity, acceptance and women in the military.
Rihanna and Tkees Foundations
Here, Rihanna is seen walking the red carpet at the world premiere of her new movie and first film ever, “Battleship” in Japan. Her hair and makeup are flawless while her ensemble is interesting and likely comfy, to say the least. She pairs her pant suit pajamas with nearly nude sandals similar to the Tkees Foundations. Tkees sandals are available in a variety of neutral shades that can make you look barefoot too, but brighter options are also available. The sandals are simple, comfy and chic. In the movie, “Battleship”, based on the classic board game, Rihanna plays Gunners Mate Second Class Cora Rakes of the United States Navy.
Jessica Simpson and Stuart Weitzman Alex
Here, new mom Jessica Simpson is spotted at JFK airport in New York City, alongside mom, Tina. She rocks a casual look consisting of a floral jumper, a loose faded denim top ( an upcoming trend, by the way), a brown hobo bag and wedge sandals, similar to the Stuart Weitzman Alex. These Stuart Weitzman wedges have a sweet summery vibe with their crochet straps. Jessica played Private Megan Valentine of the U.S. Army in Blonde & Dangerous. Though the 2008 comedy wasn’t very popular, Jessica is. She recently was a mentor on reality competition “Fashion Star” and is ranked number 86 on the Billboard top 100 based on album sales.
