If you’re going to a fancier function, want to look lovely at work or are in a position where you simply need to dress nicely, you can easily do this and still be stylish. Work and more formal situations definitely don’t need to be stuffy, just look at Michelle Obama and the Middleton sisters. If you’re looking for a classy yet trendy ensemble, shop classic/modern brands like Tory Burch, Stuart Weitzman and Kate Spade. You can also add blazers to nearly any look to dress it up and sometimes the right shoes make all the difference. Check out some of our favorite chic ‘proper’ looks below.
The Duchess of Cambridge dons espadrille wedges with a blazer and cropped skinnies, managing to look fabulous while being functional. The fit of her clothing is impeccable but the ruffled blouse and wedges similar to the Tory Burch Jackie Wedge make the outfit more fun and feminine. We’re huge fan’s of Kate’s style and can’t wait to see her maternity wardrobe – whatever she wears will be the next big thing.
Rachel Bilson looks lovely here at a Sirius XM Satellite Radio event. She rocks a feminine lace dress that’s just the right length and pairs it with a businessy blazer. She makes the look her own by adding taupe pumps similar to the Michael Kors Brayson. These stand out Michael Kors heels add a little edge to even the most proper looks.
We absolutely love Amy Smart’s adorable ensemble at non-profit event, Heal the Bay’s 25th annual “Night Under the Stars”. She wears a single shoulder cocktail dress and pairs it fabulously with silver Tory Burch sandals, similar to the Tory Burch Thora. These shimmery sandals are a dressier take an the basic flip flop and they look fantastic with Amy’s dress. The dress is incredibly classy and you wouldn’t think it would look absolutely amazing with sandals, but with a sleek silver pair, it does.
