We surveyed the G-Star “London RAW Night Launch Party” on January 13. Personalities-plus in attendance joined much-photographed British actress Gemma Aterton. We were kept busy doing a search-and-replace at the shoe level. The G-Star RAW brand is so knock your socks off urban, BTW, that it is a chore to find words. Kinda like Gap Meets Jean-Paul Gaultier Meets American Apparel. Totally chic-street. Luxuriously faded denim, cute-so suspenders, short cropped black leather jackets, black leggings, and fashionista pumps when everyone else expects sneakers. Small wonder the flockettes at the party wore THEIR city smarts.
There she was, Gemma Aterton, who is being featured in G-Star RAW’s 2011 spring/summer ad campaign. We cannot find a more compelling campaign for pretty-in-black. Did you ever see a better this-suit-really-fits human portrait? We say her look deserves a lift from Fly London, don’t you? This is the Fly London Yale Mary Jane Wedge Black Leather.
Zara Martin looks gorgeously club-ready in these super-hot moss green and black satiny pants that render her a walking goddess of the midnight swamp. Moonstruck, we chanted the two words that are worthy for her shoes: Tory Burch. We immediately knew we had to pair up this outfit with the Tory Burch Reva Gold Leather Ballet Flat. The shoe reflects her soft off-white blouse, and its logo ornament absolutely pings off her accessories.
Actress Jessica-Brown Findlay had the distinction of wearing the most un-boring little black dress of the group. Creative see-through lace sleeves make this dress a winner. We loved the young and edgy look of the feathery lingerie-like hem too. Expect to see hordes more dresses with this boudoir flavor in the coming months. Sam Edelman of course has the answer for see-through lace on little black dresses. The Sam Edelman Lorissa Pump Black Leather knows how to complete a sweet-and-sassy look with greatest charm.
